I've been looking through latest Vogue UK (May) magazine and noticed a familiar sounding name... Dr. Saulius Alkaitis. Hah! I'll be damned if he's not Lithuanian (or rather of Lithuanian origin as his company is based in Florida)! And he's in Vogue UK?! No one would probably care but I do, as I actually am from that little nice country too... (lol, that rhymes)Here's what Vogue says:
"Weird science
An acclaimed research scientist, a face mask that works better if you mix it with yoghurt and honey and a name that's hard to pronounce... Put these elements together and you have a beauty marketer's dream. Dr Alkaitis skincare, which launches in May (Alkaitis.co.uk) has that heady combination of weird and wonderful that seems to work so well. Dr Saulius Alkaitis originally used his knowledge of molecular biology and pharmacognosis (the study of the medicinal properties of plants) to create skincare products for his wife. Try the Organic Purifying Cleanser, 30pounds, which has a cold-pressed organic olive oil and herb formula that's been through a six-month ageing process."
The whole idea of organic skincare and fact that doctor's name is used as a name for products reminds me of Dr. Hauschka... I can only hope that his products are really effective and become as popular as Hauschka!
Visit the website alkaitis.co.uk to sign up for pre-launch sampling, discounts and etc.
Also thanks to google I managed to find an interview with Dr Alkaitis on Saffron Rouge.com
